Alps of Iran mountains

Located in central Alborz mountain range and Takht-e Soleyman region, Mount Alam ( Alam Kuh ) is the second highest mountain in Iran and highest in the region with 4850 meters of Altitude .

This magnificent summit is located in Kelardasht village, northwest of Tehran and near Caspian Sea.

Alam Kuh is often called the paradise of mountaineers due to its steep foothills, beautiful glaciers and snowfields and challenging technical routes.

Although Mount Damavand, being the most prominent peak in Iran, has overshadowed Alam Kuh, this amazing summit has a lot to offer to those enthusiastic about mountains and trekking.

The 500 meters high granite wall in the northern face of Alam Kuh, known as Alam Kuh big wall, is one of the attractions of this beautiful summit. Mountaineers from all around the world such as France, Italy, Poland and etc. have opened routes in this wall. Each route is named after the nationality of the groups of mountaineers that opened it.

Although it is our intention to operate this itinerary as printed, it may be necessary to make some changes as a result of flight schedules, climatic conditions, limitations of infrastructure or other operational factors. As a consequence, the order or location overnight stops and the duration of the day may vary from those outlined. You should be aware that some events are beyond our control we would ask for your patience.
If you are used to regular multi day hill walking you will have the right level of fitness to fully enjoy your time on this expedition. Previous walking experience is not essential but will help you get the most out of this trip. Non hill walkers must come with a reasonable degree of fitness.

Day 01 :

Welcome to Iran

Arrive Tehran. Transfer from IKA airport to a comfortable 4 stars hotel. After taking a rest we will have a city tour in capital. In the evening your guide will brief you about the plans for the next few days.

Day 02 :

From Tehran to Vandarbon camp (2200m)

After having breakfast at the hotel, at 9:00 we drive to Kelardasht (approx. 4-5 hours) via Chaloos road (one of the most eye-catching roads to the north of Iran), have lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Roodbarak village, be transferred to the Federation mountain camp which is equipped with rooms, beds, showers and restaurant in Vandarbon village by 4WD vehicles, we have dinner in the camp. We will stay overnight in Iran mountaineering Federation camp.

Day 03 :

Alamkuh Basecamp (3700m)

We will have the breakfast in the camp early at 6:00, then be transferred to Tang-e Galu at 2800m by 4WD vehicles at 7:00 for about 45 minutes, start trekking to Alamkuh southern basecamp named Hesarchal at 3700 meters (approx. 2 hours), set up our tents beside a narrow river on a green land that is a replica of the Paradise on Earth!!!

After having lunch and some rest at the basecamp we will have a short acclimatization trek to the summit of mount Lashgarak (4200 meters) (approx. 2 hours), enjoy the beautiful landscape including 4000 meters peaks. We will stay overnight in Alamkuh southern base camp in the tents.

Day 04 :

Alamkuh summit (4850 meters)

This is the summit day of mount Alamkuh. After having breakfast early in the morning at 5:00, we will start trekking to the summit of mount Alamkuh around 6:00 (approx. 4-5 hours). In the summit you are able to see Alamchal Glacier and beautiful peaks located at the north face of the Alamkuh. On the way we back, we will trek to the summit of mount Marjikosh (4550m) as an easy extra summit and it would be much easier descending to the base camp from this summit in comparison with the normal route. In the evening and night we have some delicious foods, fresh fruits, coffee and tea. We will stay overnight Alamkuh southern base camp in the tents.

Day 05 :

From Caspian Sea to the Tehran

After having breakfast at 8:00 we pack and descend to Tang-e Galu where 4WD vehicles are waiting us, then be transferred to Roodbarak village, have lunch in a local restaurant and drive to visit the Caspian Sea and have some fun at the beach. Drive back to Tehran and transfer to the Airport. Now it’s the time to say goodbye and hope to see you again in Iran with another adventure tours.
